I've got a couple of IDE DVD drives, but my system is on an SATA drive and all
my data are on external USB2 drives.

Every time the system boots, there's a sequence of events like:
-------------------------------------------------
"Fastrack 378 Bios....v1.010.0.37....." followed by a pause and a message like
"...no drive attached to Fastrack controller. The Bios is not installed."
-------------------------------------------------

Sounds to me like I could disable something-or-other and boot a little faster...
but what and how?

Wouldn't want to kill my system or DVDs.

Been through Del=>Setup a couple times, but nothing jumped out at me.

Check your sata connections to the MB. A loose connection will cause
this error.
