P4C800-ED Problem

Paladin

I have this board running a P4 3.0GHz, with two pairs of Corsair TwinX 1024
MB 3200 (2 gig total) on XP. I have four Western Digital Raptor 36.7GB SATA
drives connected to the ICH5 and Promise controllers, both configured as
RAID 0. I have an Antec 380 watt PSU.

My problem is, quite frequently when make large transfers from the logical
drive on the Promise controller to that on the Intel controller, the machine
spontaneously reboots. I do not seem to encounter problems in any other
situation.

Anyone have any idea where the fault may lie?

Thanks.

Are your Promise and Intel drivers updated? In order to see why it reboots
or to see the BSOD, R-Click on My Computer, go to the Advanced Tab, under
Startup and Recovery, click settings, uncheck "Automatically Reboot". When
the error (or reboot) occurs again you should see the BSOD (Blue screen of
death) and from there , if you research the error message or see the driver
that is causing the problem, research it on google and you should find your
answer.

I personally prefer Arco DupliDisk as a RAID controller. Its totally
OS independent and is Bootable. It costs a little more than the
Promise card but well worth it.

Try the memory tester available at http://www.memtest86.com
If you have clocked your memory too high or they are defective you may
get a crash when the system hit that part. In normal usage you may not
hit the bad spot as you have that much memory in your system.
