P4C800-E Dlx & Memory error

Dave

Hi all,

Before I begin here's my system spec:

P4 2.8C @ default speed
Asus P4C8000-E dlx
OCZ PC4200 EL
Enermax 465P-VE
Radeon 9800 Pro
HDD, DVDROM yadda..yadda..

I did a memory test using Memtest86 v3.0 and Microsoft Windows Memory
Diagnostic (WMD).
At first memtest86 froze on me @ test #6, plug out USB keyboard/mouse and
that did the trick ran the test once more pass with flying color.
BUT if I use Msft WMD, I got gazillion errors and this program pin pointed
that the memory on bank 0 was bad. No worries, I plug it out and ran the
test once more same result.. gazillion error but this time on memory that
was installed on bank 2 (which was reported fine when the other one plugged
in). I'm stumped I dont know which one should I trust? Memtest86 (kind of
old, and never been updated for quite some time) or Msft WMD (well it's
microsoft.. I dont even know if I should trust their OS ;) )
also FYI bank 0 (blue near the cpu socket)
bank 1 (black)
bank 2 (blue)
bank 3 (black)

Now what I'm wondering is my memory bad? Because if it is I have to arrange
RMA/exchange ASAP (The store policy is 14 days exchange and I've used the
first 7 days already, so gotta act quick) or screw microsoft WMD and trust
Memtest86?

Just a little note here that my system was working fine, I havent installed
any program/game and I ran Prime 95 overnight no error reported (but I think
prime95 only stresses the CPU right?) Any other program you guys can
recommend to test system stability?

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

[WMD Errors]

Do you have Promise-Raid-Chip in bios enabled? Disable it and no WMD
errors left.

Stephan,
That did the trick! I was starting to worry that my memory is bad... So I
guess its not... right?

One question though, I'm using RAID through Promise controller would it
affect my system stability in any way? Seeing that I get lots of memory
error if I enable the controller?

Thanks

David
