P2B problem

Hi,
I have a P2B and have a P3-550 mhz cpu, 2--PC100 --256mb ram,running Windows
ME,with a CD/RW/DVD combo drive and upgraded the bios to the beta 1014,before
going to put a 1.0 Tualatin with a Powerleap slotkit on it... My 8.4 hard drive
started not to boot up---don't know if it was because of the new bios upgrade
or not(the HD was installed in 1998) so I put in a 20gb hard drive and clean
installed Windows ME. It is working fine. I would like to transfer some of the
programs off the old hard drive to the new drive --before putting the Powerleap
and new cpu in( don't know if the 8.4gb is totally crashed or not, it just
would not get past the Windows ME title screen.)
It is still mounted but not connected by any cables in my system right next to
the 20gb HD.
How can I get some of the old programs off the old HD and get them to the new
HD or CD burner???

There are several ways to go about what you want to do. Here is one
way: Change the jumper on the old 8.4gb drive to slave and connect it
up to the IDE cable on the 1st IDE channel, or connect it up on the
second IDE channel. Same difference.

Then boot to the BIOS and choose the option to find IDE drives, Make
sure the new drive is recognised, save and boot into Windows ME. Your
old drive will have been assigned a new drive letter. Maybe E or F,
depending on your setup and cd-rom drives. Just treat it like another
drive and copy and paste at will. If for some reason all your files
are hosed on ther older drive, you'll need to use a data recuperation
program to recover it.
