Overlapping 2 audio tracks

I am traying to have a music file fade-in over 10 second period. I inserted
an audio clip on the Audio/Music track then muted it. Next I insert the music
file right next to the muted file. Then I clicked on the mucis file and
dragged it to the left. The problem is I can only drag ot within 1/6 of a
second to the beginning of the muted track. I know this because I zoomed in
all the way and notcied the smallest time segments were 1/6 second. Is there
a way to drag the music file ALL the way over the muted file? Thanks.

It is easier to create your overdub soundfile seperately,
then insert the completed audio track to the video.
The link is to, probably the best freeware audio editing tool -
Audacity.

You can do this by making your video in 2 passes.
By that I mean save your movie to your computer before adding the 2nd audio
clip. Then import the newly created movie. The audio/music portion of the
timeline will now be empty and the audio that was there will now be in the
audio timeline instead. This will allow you to place your 2nd clip anywhere
on the audio/music timeline that you want.

Good idea! I wish I had thought of that!

The problem with that is by having only 1 file on the Audio/Music track I
can't fade it in over a 10 second period. My only choice is to use the
fade-in option which is too fast.

No you can't. If you want to fade in slowly and specifically then you do
need an audio mixer as Decoder suggested.

I tried the muted audio clip then placing the main audio clip next to it then
dragging to the left over the muted clip. I get the fade-in but the main
audio clip starts 1/6 of a second after the muted clip. I need the video and
the main audio clip to be in sync. The solution I found was to do the same
with the video clip that I did with the audio. I put a blank title at the
beginning of the movie then put the video clip next it then dragged it over
the title. The down side is the video will also fade-in but since I can get
the title down to 2 seconds the video fades in very quickly.

I appreciate everybodys' help with this matter.
