Overdue appointment alerts in Outlook

G

Guest

Outlook is popping alerts saying that I have overdue appointments, yet the
appointments, and the reminders, are set for future dates. My system date
and time are correct, and when I open the Calendar it shows today's date.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks, but the article refers to Outlook 2002 Standard Edition. I'm using
Outlook 2003 Student and Teacher Edition.

It should work for your version too. Try it.

Jocelyn,

The article tells me to look for "outlook.exe". I've searched in c:\ and
the file can't be found. I serched on "outlook" and the system finds a
"Microsoft Office Outlook 2003" in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office

It doesn't find "outlook.exe"

Thanks

Is the file found by the search a shortcut? If so, what file does the
shortcut point to? There must be an Outlook.exe on your system somewhere;
it's the executable file that runs Outlook, just as mspaint.exe runs
Microsoft Paint, or Notepad.exe runs Notepad, etc.

If the file you found is not a shortcut, look at its file properties (right
click the filename and click Properties) -- what is the file path and does it
end in outlook.exe?

Just for reference, my Outlook.exe file appears in C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE11. It may be slightly different for the Student and Teacher
Edition but it should still be somewhere in that vicinity -- at least under
Program Files\Microsoft Office.

I also have Office 2003 Professional on another machine and I can also find
the executable in the same path by doing a search on "outlook". And yes, it
seems that the file I found is a shortcut. (It's in the start folder) It is
strange that I can't find the executable. It has to be somewhere, but is
perhaps a hidden file?

It could be in a hidden or system folder (unlikely but possible), so when you
do your search, include hidden files plus hidden and system folders.

I was able to find it by including hidden files and system folders, but when
I type the path and switch into "Open" box it says "Winows can't find
C:\Program...."

The article shows the path wrapped in quotations, "C:\program
Files\Microsoft..." /Cleanreminders so I typed iit with quotations and
Outlook started! Maybe this worked. We'll see.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you're up and running. The file path is in quotations because it
contains spaces (for instance, the one between Program and Files). When you
try to run it without quotes it stops as soon as it finds the first space.
