outlook won't automatically download messages from server

all at once, the send/receive button no longer works. The only way I can get
mail is to select "download headers in this folder" and then the messages
come in without the preview pane I originally had and nothing goes into Junk
Mail as before, even though I have that option selected. When I do get
messages, now I have to choose to open somehow or delete, download, then
select "process all marked headers" -- and I can't find out where or how
whatever changed did it.

The same problem just suddenly happened with me. Thanks for some potential
work arounds. I am able to get my email directly from my ISP using their
webmail but I want my Outlook fixed.

Gary, after rebooting twice, most of my Outlook is working as I had it set
up, and I can once again hit "send/receive" and it works. Some things are
still squirrely but I think I can figure them out. Good luck, Karon
