outlook tool bar disables

D

duane

Often my upper tool bar area will diable after I
send/recieve. The only way to fix it is to close outlook
and reopen it. But then it is only good for one function
on the tool bar before is becomes disabled again. If I
reboot my entire system it will go away for a while but
will eventually come back. I have reinstalled outlook
(2000 pro) and the response is the same as rebooting. I
have noticed that from time to time I get a run time
error....but have failed to write down the number - so
for now I dont have it. To reinstall, I put in the CD
and did the restore funtion. Perhaps there is another
way to do this without losing my data. Help is
appreciated. Duane

Duane,

It sounds like you might have something running in the background that's
affecting the Outlook toolbar. So, please try the following steps:

1. Reboot your computer.
2. On the Start menu click Run.
3. In the Open box type the following and then click OK.

Outlook.exe /safe

If this resolves the problem, then you probably have an add-in that's
affecting the toolbar. To identify loaded add-ins, please do the following:

1. Restart Outlook (do not use the /safe switch)
2. On the Tools menu click Options.
3. On the "Other" tab click Advanced Options.
4. Click Add-in Manager.

Any loaded add-in will be checked.

5. Uncheck any non-default add-ins and OK your way out of the dialogs.
6. Restart Outlook.

If the problem does not come back then one of the now disabled add-ins was
the cause of the problem.

Hope this helps.
