Outlook starts again after being shutdown....

I leave my computer (Windows XP, Outlook 2000) on over night and despite the
fact that I have shutdown Outlook (including going into the Windows Task
Manager and shutting down the process which SOMETIMES, but not everytime,
needs to be done) when I show up in the morning Outlook has magically opened
up again and is running...

Any idea why this would be happening? What can I do?

Thanks,
John

Presumably you've scanned with AV and malaware tools?
If you either block your internet or disable your Lan does that produce any
err msg in the am?
Of course if in an Office, any cleaners about?

I guess I should have mentioned that I have scanned the computer with AVG
Anti-virus and AdAware as that seems like the most likely thing going on
here, somekind of virus or malware. And no, there are no cleaners or anyone
else who would be checking out my email...that is why I'm stumped on this
one...

If I restart my computer before I leave the office and don't start up
Outlook, then in the morning it's not started. Only starts if it has been on
all day and I shut it down before I leave and leave the computer on. That's
why I started going into the Windows Task Manager to make sure all instances
of Outlook.exe has been shut down. When I open up Windows Task Manager after
shutting down Outlook, sometimes there is still a process running and
sometimes there is not...and it is not always back on in the morning...I
would say about 4 times out of 5 it is back on in the morning....

It definately sounds like a virus or malware...is there something else out
there I should be using to scan my computer with?

I will disable the internet connection tonight and see if there is an error
message in the morning...thanks for that suggestion...

Any other help would be appreciated...

John
