Outlook should save attachments to a central location easy access

I get alot of emails with attachments that customers send to me. My
outlook.pst file gets very large, very quickly. I have my email archive
anything older than 3 months yet my outlook.pst file is still over 1 gig and
ends up locking up. It would be very nice if there was an option to allow
attachments to automatically save to a certain folder and not be saved with
the email. That way the .pst file wouldn't get too large too quick and
attachements could easily be organized and deleted if necessary.
