outlook should provide better serach features when sending mail

After selecting new mail option followed by the to field there is limited
search feature provided looking for a contact.

Using the find feature in contacts is a much more powerful feature allowing
a user to ssearch every field.

Some times users have several thousand contacts and need to search by
company name.

That's just a simple find for contacts with electronic addresses. If you
know the person's name to whom you wish to send a message, just type it in,
otherwise, find it in contacts and right click on the contact and choose the
new message option.

The right click feature is fine if you are sending an e-mail to only one
contact person, however if you wish to send to multiple addresses and are not
sure of the persons name it makes finding the contact very difficult. Why not
incorporate the same search functionality as in contacts.

Because it is limited due to mapi restrictions and has to support access to
not only contacts but the GAL (and the PAB which is still supported but not
recommended).
