Outlook Reading Pane Text Size

In Outlook 2003, you can right click the tiny grey border around the Reading
Pane and change the "Text Size" on html content messages. If you set it to
Larger, it stays for that message, but the next message you read has it back
to Medium (the default). Worse yet, if you had previously set your IE
settings to Larger and then read an htm message in Outlook via the Reading
Pane, your IE settings are set back to Medium.

Anyone have any ideas how to set your Text Size and make it stick?

Depends. If the HTML is specifying the text size, you may not be able to
change it.

If Outlook 2003 is so good then why is it that in a free program like
Mozilla Thunderbird you ***can*** specify default font sizes when
viewing HTML messages?

You can with Outlook, too. What I said was that if the sender chooses a
specific font size, the HTML rendering should be constrained to using that
font size, and I would expect Thunderbird to obey as well.

Guys, I'm not talking about the "specified size" of the html. It's a setting.
View -> Text Size -> smallest, smaller, medium, larger, largest. I'm not even
saying whether it does it or not. What I'm saying is that when I change it
(say to larger), it does not "stick". In other words, next time I open any
html email (or worse yet, IE), it is reset back to medium. Before using
Outlook 2003's reading pane, I could set my IE setting to Larger and have it
stay that way forever. Now Outlook 2003 is resetting it on me.

If IE-View-Text Size does not stick....

---solution 1
If you are using Eudora 4.2 or greater then use Tools-Options-Viewing
Mail and uncheck "Use Microsoft's viewer"
It is Eudora that is setting the IE text size and unchecking that
option will stop it.

The key that Eudora 4.x will change is this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\International\Scripts\3]
"IEFontSize"=hex:02,00,00,00

---solution 2
In Outlook 2000 or 2003 go to Tools/Options/Mail Format/Fonts/International
Fonts, and for each font change the "Font Size" entry to your desired size.
