Outlook Randomly Crashing : faulting module ntdll.dll

Dave

This is the event viewer log : "Faulting application outlook.exe, version
10.0.6626.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address
0x00018fea"

Win Xp Pro
Office XP

Both fully updated.

I have tries a system restore to before the problem started, but it did not
resolve anything.

The only thing I installed between it not happening and it happening
(although I don't know the period between) is Sophos, but I un-installed
this AND did the System Restore to no avail.

My PST is well below 2GB.

I have compressed and ran scanpst.exe.

I have ran repair and detect.

Any other suggestions?

Source : Microsoft Office 10
Event ID : 1000

I have just created a new PST, imported everything in and switch default
PST. Maybe that will fix it...

Thanks for the suggestions.

The base install of OS was SP2 so could not re-apply that. When I tried to
re-apply Office SP3 it said it was already there and would not let
re-apply?!?!

I followed the link for Event 1000, but nothing seemed to apply to my
situation.

I re-installed Outlook but to no avail, but, I did see a message about
McAfee not working properly during the install. This got me thinking, I
un-installed McAfee prior to installing Sophos, and I think (I don't have a
good memory) that the uninstall of McAfee complained at some point, which I
ignored as I was removing it anyhow.

I then got to thinking that something was left behind and was breaking
outlook, so I re-installed McAfee... which had problems in itself, but
eventually it went in ok.

Since then Outlook has not crashed.

Going to run for the rest of today and if still no crashes I have the
culprit... then I just have to remove McAfee without crashing it...

Thank for your help.
