Outlook Pst freezes after backup

I use veritas backup exec 9.1 with advanced open file module. The pst is
mapped on server but after backup job, it freezes my outlook. I've to kill
the outlook process from task manager and sometimes restart the pc.

pls help

Another reason why storing pst-files on a network is not supported or
recommended by Microsoft.

Does it work when the pst-file is kept locally on the computer?
