Outlook .ost file locked by Office Communicator

Hi,

i've googled for a fix to this to no avail. we're using Communicator 2005
and Office 2005

as many of you would be aware, communicator can lock the .ost file so that
when you try start Outlook, you get the generic "[ost file in use...please
close any applications which are using it etc.]"

the quick solution is of course to kill the Communicator process, the
restart Outlook, then restart Communicator again

however this is obviously not really a fix but a workaround. has microsoft
released any hotfixes to address this issue? can it be addressed?

there seems not to be a KB article or hotfix released to address any similar
issue.

anyone else come across this and found a solution?
