Outlook no longer connects with my incoming POP3 server?

My Outlook will no longer receive messages from my YahooMail account or my
Yahoo Business account via the Pop3 server method. As of yesterday, I can
only view messages on the Yahoo website, which is a real hassle for me.
Within Outlook, the error message when I check my account settings says "The
specified server was found, but there was no response from the server." I
have checked all settings and they are correct. I have even deleted one
account and rebuilt it. Nothing works. Any suggestions out there?

Since it's only been a day, it's possible they're having POP server
problems...I assume you're paying for the regular Yahoo Mail account as well
as the business account? (Yahoo no longer allows free POP access to their
accounts, but you probably already knew that).

Yes, I'm paying for both accounts. I have to admit that I'm particularly
spooked about problems right now as I had a hard drive failure just after
Thanksgiving and have had to reload absolutely everything. Outlook has been
a bit odd ever since the reload, but this "can't receive even though I can
find your server" problem is new and something I can't overlook. While
diagnosing it, I remembered that I have noticed a few times this week that I
got an error message about Outlook not being properly shut down (even though
it should have been) when I attempted to shut down my system. As a last
resort I decided to do System Restore to before I first saw those shutdown
errors. That appears to have resolved my receiving problem, but things still
seem a bit slow. I'm not sure that things are really "fixed." Do you have
any further wisdom?

I sent an email to Yahoo and got a response to delete my old SBC Yahoo email
account from within Outlook 2003 and create a new one. I did what was
suggested and still the error persists. I am waiting for an answer to my
email to SBC Yahoo stating their suggestions did not fix the problem.

The problem was with Norton Internet Security 2005 firewall. I had to
uninstall and reinstall NIS 2005. Now Outlook 2003 works as it did before!!

Sorry for the late reply. What exactly is going more slowly than before --
receiving, or other Outlook functions?
