Outlook Name Suggestion Issue

N

Nitin Nair

I am working on a strange issue with name suggestion in Outlook 2k3 version.
For some users when I type the alias for the first time it resolved the name.
The next time I try to type few characters for the same user. it suggests me
with the complete name but this time in the brackets <> the alias would be
some starnge name with some numbers. This strange alias number does not
existing in our organization nor the number that appears along with it
appears in the User AD properties.
Examples:
First time I type the alias as:
"nnair" and press Ctrl + K = It resolves to Nair, Nitin.

Second time I type:
"n" Outlook suggests me as:
n Nair, Nitin<mpannel53233334>.

Here Alias of Nair, Nitin is "nnair" which does not appear and the numbers
that appear does not have any entry in this users AD account. Now if we
select this user and send email, it working fine. The only concern is where
is it picking up this starnge name and number?

This is happening for some user and not all. On the client machine we tried
deleting the .NK2 file but next time once this users name is typed, then
second time it gives the same issue. We have seen this happening with 3-4
user id's for now. All users are on different servers and different stores.

Another issue Example:
First time I type the alias as:
"kRamesh" and press Ctrl + K = It resolves to Kumar, Ramesh.

Second time I type:
"k" Outlook suggests me as:
k Kumar, Ramesh<KRamesh2342343>.

Here Alias of Kumar, Ramesh is "KRamesh". It appears correctly but again a
number comes up. Here also if we select the user and send mail, it gets
delivered fine, but the same question where is the number coming from?

Any suggestion for issue is highly appreciated.

Regards
Nitin

Have you taken a closer look at the user accounts with these issues via ADSI
Edit already?
I'm expecting your legacyExchangeDN property for that user is off.
