Outlook is not responding????

Hello,

When I close Outlook 2003 it throws it down to the active programs to the
right by the clock. When I try to open it again by double clicking or by
right clicking on the icon, it says:

"Outlook is not respnding. If you are using an exchange server e-mail
accoutnt, you can cancel pending server requets by clicking the Outlook icon
in the notifications area, and then clicking Cancel Service Request on the
shortcut menu."

I only use a Hotmail, Gmail, and another POP3 account, so I really don't
know what that means. If I go and click on the icon on my desktop it loads
right up, but this is kinda an annoyance since I can't always see the
desktop. Please help. Thanks

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click
either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support
for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background
to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing
mail.

Ok, well I have narrowed it down from the list you gave me:

I know it is not 2, or 3 becasue I don't use those programs. I know it is
not 6 becasue I turned Zone Alarm Security Suite's e-mail scanning off and it
still does it. I don't know what a COM add in is, but I don't think I have
any of those since I don't know what that is. I use Activesync to sync my PDA
with Outlook and I guess that could be it, but why would one Microsoft
product conflict that much with another? And the only mail reminders that I
have are the ones that are in Outlook 2003 already. I haven't installed any
other software for that.

Well, the problem is still happening so I still need some assistance if
possible. Thanks again.

I got it. It was my PDA software. I just went to my Activesync options and
made it sync "On Connection" rather that "All the time". Thanks!
