Outlook in IMAP mode

Good Day Board,

I would like to know if there is a way to get Outlook to actually delete
an e-mail while in IMAP mode instead of just drawing a line through the
e-mail. If there is no way to get around this, is there a way to update
the folder view to eventually remove these e-mails.

That's not an Outlook "Problem" it's the way that IMAP functions as a
server-based system

When you "delete" an IMAP email, you are flagging it to be deleted. If you
want to physically remove it from the server you need to "Purge".

To be overly simplistic, IMAP when used with Outlook works on copies of
emails - when you read your emails in Outlook you are making a copy of the
email - the original stays on the server until a Purge command is sent.

If the line is a problem - change your View to "Hide Messages Marked for
Deletion"

Thanks. I thought MS would just simply move the e-mail to the deleted
items and be done with it. Can't be that hard to do.

It's taken until v2003 until there's even some "reasonable" support for
IMAP. Still not good though: sent items for example are still filed the the
"personal folders" and not in the IMAP sent items without writing rules.

MS does not really like you using a non-Exch. server, you see/

See http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/23/81 for a list of changes to IMAP
support in Outlook 2007 (sent items can now be stored on server). Just
be warned that IMAP in 2007 might not work flawlessly with every IMAP
server out there.
