outlook import pst files access denied

I have a new laptop. I have set up outlook and have tried to import files
from my backup on an external drive I get the message file access is denied.
You do not have the permission. I am able to import and export without
problems between 2 other computers.

did you try copying the pst to the hard drive? Is another copy of outlook
using the pst?

Don't import. As posted here many many many times, import does things you
don't want to know about.
