Outlook icon missing from Start Menu

The missing icon is the one underneath the default internet browser when you
open the start menu. The icon was there after installing office 2007 for a
couple of reboots. One about the third reboot, the icon disappeared and was
replaced with the "missing icon." (I guess that is what it is. It is the
same icon that is seen on a file that has had the program to open it
removed.) Anyhow, the icon still opens outlook, but the icon is just
missing. I read in some other forums that people had the problem with IE7
and that their problem was solved by fixing some references in the registry.
However, the references were specific to the IE7 problem so they didn't help.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Try changing the mail application referenced there by the Task Bar options
and then change it back to Outlook. You can also completely remove it and
right click on the Outlook shortcut in All Programs and choose Pin to Start
Menu.

Thanks for the suggestions. However, changing the mail application and then
back again didn't do it. I did just add the shortcut icon for now, but it
isn't the same. For instance, when I right click the icon that should be
there, I only have two options which are read mail and properties (which
takes me to mail setup. The work-around icon doesn't do that. Any other
suggestions?

Yep. That didn't work either.
