Let's try an simple question. Can an hardcopy letterhead, that has a header
and a footer - be made to use as an Outlook email form?
Or will it just support a header OR footer OR sidebar?
Since I'm I cannot get stationary in Outlook... are there other programs
that create html emails based on a hard copy letterhead, that can be used to
creat good looking html emails to be sent via Outlook?
Thanks very much in advance!

No, email messages don't have a concept of header and footer. Why can't you use stationery?

Hi Sue, the office wanted the outbound emails to look just like the letterhead.
Also, I cannot figure out how to get stationary in - my saved html files
either do not show up, or show up as blocks with red "Xs".
Should I assume from your reply that I might be able to do either a header
or a footer in stationary - but not both? Sorry to be so dense on this, but
it's been frustrating to get something to look like it has the branding
desired.

"just like the letterhead" is probably not possible. The HTML compatible with email messages doesn't support all the bells and whistles of documents. You might find the walkthrough at http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/outlook-stationery.html useful. Also, I imagine that a search for something like "e-mail stationery branding" might turn up some third-party tools.

Again, email messages don't have a concept of header and footer. Some companies append disclaimer text to all outgoing messages at the server, thus adding their own footer.

Sue - you are amazing. The link below was indeed useful. Not only was it
clear... but in playing with these instructions for signatures... it looks
like I can insert a top graphic AND a bottom graphic! Setting paragraph
alignment to 'center' and I've gotten 90% the look of the real letterhead
with a graphic header AND footer. One just needs to type email body copy in
between them. The ability to add a hyperlink to a url is a nice touch too. I
was trying to wrestle to get this to work in stationary, where one might
assume it should be done... and it looks like it's all doable but only in
'signatures'. I'm concluding 'Stationary' is only good for background images.
Sue Thank you - Thank you very, very much -- Dodge
