Outlook Express to Outlook 2003 conversion

Yesterday I set-up Outlook and imported my address and previous emails from
Outlook Express. It worked just perfectly - all my address came over, all of
my past emails are there. The problem - when I press send/receive nothing is
sent or recieved. A box pops up asking for my password then it eventually
times out. I have double checked the settings - they are the same as they
were in Outlook Express. My service provider is Suddenlink and they will not
provide technical support other than verifying the settings. I cannot
understand why it will not work, I have a feeling it is just some small issue
of a correct box being checked or unchecked but as I say, all they settings
seem to be the same as they were in Outlook Express. Any advice or where to
go for help. I guess I can go back to using Outlook Express?????

The settings might be slightly different if you are using 'Windows mail'
instead of outlook or outlook express. The first thing i would check to see
if you can login into your webmail account on their website. go to
webmail.suddenlink.net and login. if you are able to login then the issue is
not the username or password.
Take a look at the settings below for outlook and outlook express.
If you use Outlook….
• Open Outlook
• Go to Tools
• E-mail Accounts
• Add a new e-mail account
• Click Next
• Select POP3 for the server type.
• Click Next
• Enter in the name you want others to see when you send mail
• Click Next
• Enter in Your FULL email address
• Incoming mail server: pop.suddenlink.net
• Outgoing mail server: smtp.suddenlink.net
• User name: The FULL email address
• Your password
• Check remember password
• No check in Log on using Secure password Authentication
• Click More Settings
• Click the Outgoing Server Tab
• Make sure there is check in the box that says "My outgoing server (SMTP)
requires authentication.
• Click OK
• Click Next
• Highlight your suddenlink email account
• Click Set as Default
• Click Finish
• You’re done!

If you use Outlook express…
• Open Outlook Express
• Go to Tools
• Accounts
• Click Add
• Select Mail
• Enter in the name you want others to see when you send mail
• Click Next
• Enter in the FULL e-mail
• Click Next
• Your incoming mail server is a POP3 server
• Incoming mail server: pop.suddenlink.net
• Outgoing mail server: smtp.suddenlink.net
• Click Next
• The account name is the FULL email address
• Enter in your password
• Click remember password
• No checkmark in Log on using Secure Password Authentication
• Click Next
• Click Finish
• The Click properties
• Click the Servers tab
• Check the box at the bottom that is under the heading Outgoing Mail Server
and next to my server requires authentication.
• Click APPLY
• Click OK
• Highlight your Suddenlink account
• Select Set as Default
• Click close
• Your done!

If you use windows mail...
i would delete the current account i am having the issues with. Then create
a new setup. Go to
http://www.suddenlink.com/support/how-to/HT-WindowsMailVista/ and follow the
instructions.

Finally, Suddenlink also offers support through chat at
www.suddenlink.com/chat.do?
and their technicial support department is open 24 hours a day/ 7 days a
week. Maybe talking to different technicial support agent might help.
