Outlook Express Problems

My computer was down for a couple of weeks and I was unable to check emails
in Outlook Express. When the computer was fixed Outlook Express had over
4,000 emails for me. I keep loading them and keep deleting them and they
keep coming back! How can I delete them once and for all? I have set the
server so it won't time out and I have even shut off the virus software.
Neither options have worked. I have also deleted my account and then put it
back. Any ideas? Thanks!

The messages are still on your ISP's server. Outlook Express needs to
complete the session (ie. fully download the messages) and complete the
handshake with the server telling it that it has received everything and it
is ok to delete them from the server.

If that doesn't happen, the server does not know that Outlook Express has
any of the messages and keeps them for the next attempt.
