Outlook Express anti-spam feature?

I wonder if Outlook Express can be set to do this.

You most likely know how some people spread jokes, links, etc. through
e-mail and they send it to everyone in their address book. I guess some have
the mail settings set in such a way that they would automatically add into
their address books all the recipients belonging to a particular message they
receive. This way their address books grow big time and now I happen to be in
the address book of people I do not know. I have just received a series of
messages that were addressed to an estimate of 75 people. I happen to know
only one from that list and I guess being in his address book, and he in turn
being on another guy’s address book and so on …

Question: can Outlook Express be set to block any mail that has more than a
preset number of recipients? This way I would simply block all mails sent to
more than say 3 or 5 people. This would limit the received spam.

Up to a certain point I could copy and paste recipients/addresses data into
my blocked list residing on my internet provider server, but that list is
already maxed. I cannot add more and the list on unwanted people is growing
continuously.

Are there any other solutions?

Thank you,

Many, but none of them include Outhouse Distress. I recommend
Thunderbird as its junk filter is excellent. Get it here:

http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird

When you open it after installing it for the first time, it will ask you
if you want to import everything from Outhouse Distress.

you don't have to copy
and paste recipients
to block.

you should be able to
open the mail, then right
click on the senders
address to get the instant
blocking option.

further, you might be
able to set a message rule,
via the tools menu option.

since commas are used
to separate address's, this
may be used to determine
your criterion and set an
action for it.

just have to do a little
experimenting...

Outlook Express only adds people to the address book if you Reply and have
that option checked. You can't make a rule by the number of recipients, but
there are other options.

Up to XP, Microsoft did not include any anti-spam feature. In Vista,
there is no more Outlook Express but has Micorosft Mail which has some
anti-spam features.

You can locate several anti-spam filters off the Internet. One usable
one is free one - SpamPal.

This way I can only block the sender. Would be nice to block the recipients
from his list as well because most likely more stuff is going to come from
some of them.

then you might try
a message rule, via
the tools menu option.

when you create a
new rule you will have
the option of selecting
the criterion to check
and the action to take.

use the address in the "to"
field that the sender
is using to spam you
with. then set action
to delete the message.

sometimes the perpetrator
alters the data to avoid
these methods.

so look for a common
denominator in all the
messages or create a couple
of rules specifically designed
for that spammer.

setting the rules is a little
confusing at first, but you'll
find it a pretty easy tool to
use and fine tune.

How about this solution: noticing this group is for XP and NOT OE.
