Outlook Express 6

Hi,
I can not set OE6 as the default mail handler.
I've gone to Tools ... Options ... Default Msg. Programs
and select "Make Default" (mail handler)...
"Apply & OK".
I then get an "Application Error" box ... "the memory
could not be written".
