Outlook Exp & compacting folders message

hello:

When I use outlook express now I get a msg upon exiting that asks me to
comapct folders and I can't seem to turn it off even if I compact. How can I
make this msg. go away?

You may want to ask in microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general. OE has nothing
to do with Outlook.

OK, here's another one. I just installed WinXP SP3. We have NEVER used
Outlook Express, always full Outlook; I even uninstalled OE from our system.

Now, whenever anyone logs onto the system...even if they don't run
Outlook...they get the darn "To save disk space, Outlook Express can compact
folders. This may take a few minutes" with "OK" and Cancel" as options.
However, most of the time, the dialog box goes away before we can click an
option...and then the dialog box pops up again 1-2 mins later...goes
away...comes back, etc--until we catch it and click OK.

Heck, my son doesn't even HAVE an outlook profile, much less PST or DBX
files, and he gets asked.

What causes this, and how do we stop it?
