Outlook.exe process runs after Outlook closed

When I close Outlook, the Outlook.exe process is still running in the Task
Manager and must be ended manually. The effect this has on Outlook is that I
am unable to enter appointments into the calendar until I close Outlook and
end the process. I am using Outlook 2003 with Windows XP and ActiveSync
which has also been installed on the PC. This is happening on multiple
machines all of which are configured like my own.

Help if you can. Thanks.

ActiveSync might be your culprit if the PDA is left in the cradle. Other
things that keep Outlook resident are antivirus, fax programs, or just about
anything that utilizes or protects outlook data.
