When I delete an Outlook e-mail from the Inbox, it is not going to Deleted
Items folder. It disappears completely. This just started happening.

Sorry, but my unionized gremlins are on strike and refuse to go
digging into your computer to find out WHICH version of Outlook that
you use.

Are you using the Shift+Del key combination which *permanently*
deletes?

Did you check your view that is used for the Deleted Items folder?

Version 2003, sorry. Did not use the Shift+Delete key. By the view, do you
mean the titles at the top that sort if you click them? Did not do that. I
have looked in all the settings I can think of to find something to turn off,
or on.

You don't have a top-level menubar item labeled "View"?

Yes, in the “view†the following are checked: Navigation pane and Status bar.

That changes only the layout of the panes shown inside the Outlook
window. That doesn't change the view of a folder. There are other
choices under the View menu. I am using OL2002 so navigation may
differ under OL2003. Under View, go to the Current View submenu and
look at which *view* you are using for the selected folder. Then use
Customize to look at how that view is defined. Maybe you are hiding
items based on filtering criteria that you don't want.
