Outlook crashes/re-starts since failed SP3 installation

I'm using Outlook 2007. I recently used Windows update to attempt to download
and install service pack 3. The installation hung at some point. I cancelled
it and tried again. It hung again. In between I tried using Outlook to catch
up on mail. I found that every 10-15 minutes I'd get the familiar "Outlook
has encountered a problem.." message asking if I wanted to notify Microsoft.
Regardless of answering yes or no Outlook would re-start. Most of the time it
would bring back any open messages, work in progress, etc.

This is the *only* application that's acting unusually. I've tried
uninstalling the partial SP3 update. Outlook is still crashing. I thought I'd
try to repair Outlook using the original Office Small Business 2007 disk and
the set up program encounters an error too.

I really don't want to go through the pain and lost time related to
uninstalling/reinstalling Outlook 2007..maybe Office 2007 for that matter. Is
there anything else I can try to fix Outlook before taking more drastic steps?

Are there any Office or Outlook related entries in the Application Event
Viewer?

Thanks for the idea Kathleen. I had read references to the App Event Viewer
but didn't know where it was. I found it in Control Panel and checked it out.
The issue was with an Outlook Add-In. I removed it and the problems
disappeared. Thank you thank you!
