Outlook Contacts Interfering with Mail Merge

G

Grapevine

Hi

I am using Doug Robbins' MVP email merge with attachments solution.

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MailMerge/MergeWithAttachments.htm

All works fine unitl the actual merge to the addresses where Outlook seems
to be interfering and entering email addresses for some of the contacts
rather than using the addresses specified in Dougs' solution. Not sure but it
seems like the addressesit's picking on are for people for whom I hal;ready
have contact data in Outlook. Problem is, there is often a mismatrch of email
data between Outlook and speciifed list for merge-home vs work, outdated etc.

Can you override Outlook input in this regard somehow?

Apologies - posted this in Dec last year but lost thread due to being v
busy....

Specify in more detail and more clearly how you are selecting the recipient
addresses.
We have no idea what you're doing from your description.
Clarify what you think is happening that shouldn't.

Hi Russ

Apologies if this wasn't clear. It is quite complex and the link to Doug's
solution covers it better than I can....

Basically though it creates a Catalogue in Word which gaterhs email
addresses frmo a named data source. In m ycase excel exports. The mechanism
for firing iof the last stage is Doug's Macro, the code for which is in the
link....Hope this clarifies a little more.

because this involves VBA, you might be better help in the program_vba group

OK Thanks Diane, will try this....Though I have been to the Word forum as
well as Outlook already. Pretty soon there'll be nowhere left to go.
.....Which means I may be back!

Because the microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba group deals specifically
with Outlook VBA, the people there are skilled in both outlook and VBA and
they should be able to figure it out.

I see. So Outlook is out of the picture entirely as the data source for the
merge. In that case, you appear to have a problem with the code which you
should investigate in the programming group.
