Outlook can send email, but received email isn't appearing

I can send, and I can see incoming mail flash up in the status bar when
sending and receiving (i.e. 1 of 3 messages). Nothing appears in the Inbox.
Settings are correct - new messages to appear in Inbox. Firewall not
stopping them - I turned it off and still cannot see the received mail. Junk
Email Filter not grabbing them either. Any other suggestions as to where
they are going.

PS: If I log into Outlook Express from a previous version of Office, I can
happily send and receive using the same account setup info.

Just to add to my initial thread. When I test my account settings within
both Outlook Express and Outlook 2003, both TEST OK (and I can send and
receive successfully in OE, and send successfully in OL 2003).

BUT, when I test my email account settings within the Control Panel, they
fail stating they cannot connect to the POP3 server. What the?
