the Outlook backup utility does not back up all my .psts - it only backs up
some of my .psts - does it have a limit? I have quite a few.

Thanks!

How the utility functions depends on your version of OL and the backup
options you have set.

I'm sorry but I don't have an answer to your question, but I have been
trying to find out how to use the Outlook backup utility. Can you tell me
where it is? Right now I'm backing up by archiving to the "My Documents"
folder, and then including that .pst file when I do my regular backups. But
I don't know what is in the .pst file ecuase I can't find a way to read it,
so I too do not know how many files are in there!

Thanks.

Its a free download from MS
If you are using the OL Archive option, this is not the same as backing up.
Archive moves mail, based on a modified date, to the Archive.
Other than using the OL Backup addin, to backup your pst simply copy it to
another location. You should not overwrite any existing copy as that can
cause corruption.
You can open any pst, in OL - File/Open/Data File......browse to location.

Thanks for the url for the download, but I have Outlook 2002, and it says
2003! Can I use this one?

Thanks for your response. When I try set the back up options, I have the
option to checkmark some of them, not all of them. I don't know how to make
the others appear in that list. Do you know?

Thanks!

Mine are all in the same place and that article really doesn't address it.
Thanks for your help though! I will keep digging.

Thank you, I've downloaded the back up tool, saved all to My Documents, it's
16,700 KB so I guess everything is in there. I just want to be sure
everything is backed up so if I crash (again!) I will have everything saved.
I assume that I'll use the Export feature to get back the latest backed up
data.

Avoid import, simply open any pst, including backup.pst within OL
You can if required rename or move it to a different location
The default location for My Documents is your C drive, if you have a
seperate drive/partition it might be better to locate My Docs to this.
