Outlook and Backup addin

I upgraded my Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2002 (SP3). Running on XP Pro. Had
the microsoft outlook add-in backup program installed and working fine
before the upgrade. The "backup" command is still under the File Menu.
When I click on it I can execute the backup setup, set the backup location,
etc. When I direct it to make a backup and exit Outlook I get "could not
load backappl.exe. Backup failed." The program "backappl.exe" is located
in the "c:\program files\microsoft office\office" folder.

Figured I had to upgrade the backup add-in too. Went to microsoft.com,
downloaded the installation file, tried installing. The installation
program said to uninstall the prior version. Went to Control Panel | Add
Remove and it's not listed. So cannot uninstall that way.

Any suggestions?

In Outlook, Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options>COM Add-ins>Remove

Microsoft

COM Add-Ins>Remove does remove the backup option from the File menu, but it
doesn't remove it. I can't install the updated version of backup.

Your steps remove "Backup" from the outlook File menu; they do not remove
the backup program fom the operating system. Cannot install the latest
backup program.

Thanks for that information. Sorry for the mislead.
