Outlook account not found in Account setting?

Email accounts were set and working, now it is not. When I go to Account
Setting to move, or set as default, Outlook says "specific account not found,
item might have been deleted". I see it, I can edit it, I just can not set
it as default. Tried outlook repair, tried deleting and starting over, tried
new PST. Right now, outlook is not sending or receiving at all. Web based
access to comcast account works fine. So does setting up an Outlook express
account. HELP !!!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I did that too... does anyone know if A
virus can corrupt the file that holds the email account info? What it the
file name and can I delete it??

Is this an imap account?
The details are in the registry
And if you created a New Profile, you would have had to add the accounts, as
none would be present

DL, thanks for reaching out and helping... not sure I fully understand your
question RE IMAP. All I can say is that one day allw as fine; it worked on
Monday, then stopped on Tuesday!!! First thing I did was call Comcast and
they confirmed the settings were right. BTW- all three email accounts
stopped. I then deleted the email account(s), started over, still nothing.
I went online to the web access of comcast and saw that test messages were
indeed created, but nothing shown in Outlook. NOTE, the send receive button
were gone. Lastly, I configured Outlook Express to test PC and connection..
that worked. I then took out the Office '07 disks and did the repair
routine. THen I created a NEW PST, still nothing.. I am about to go medival

So you still havent created a new Profile and added the mail accounts?
As if you had created a new Profile none of your origonal accounts would be
present

The question about imap account came forth from your sig
You create a new profile using the mail applet in the control panel - dont
copy the old profile - Creating a new pst has nothing to do with the
problem, unless the data file is corrupt, and you can test this using
scanpst.exe. A corrupt data file has nothing to do with accounts
missbehaving
