Outlook 97 problems

S

Susan Waldron

I am using Outlook 97 (on a Windows ME platform) for a
single user, dialing into the Internet via DSL.

I have 2 problems:
- I cannot open a vCalendar item and have it export to
Outlook. (The item is created on the www.opentable.com
website, and in the Outlook 2000 version I used to use in
the office, it automatically created an appointment for
me. I'd like it to do the same in O97 on my home PC.)

- The Inbox Assistant is greyed out on the Tools menu (and
I've checked that the correct file is present in the
Windows/System folder). The info in the Knowledge Base
seems to indicate this can't be used without Exchange, but
Outlook Express seems to be able to do this.

Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Susan

I should mention that importing a vCalendar item is NOT
one of the supported file formats in my Outlook 97. I can
import .pst, .csv, tab-separated files, etc., but not
vCalendar files.

Outlook 97 does not support vCalendar.

Out of Office Assistant is an available feature only if you connect to Microsoft Exchange Server as your mail server. If you don't use Exchange Server, you can use Outlook Rules Wizard or one of the third-party automatic rules processing addins. See http://www.slipstick.com/rules/index.htm and http://www.slipstick.com/addins/index.htm .
