Outlook 2007 with connector

P

Phil Erlich

I am using Outlook 2007 with connector installed - have it installed on 3
machines - http has been changed to mapi and has been working. On one of
the two machines I am not receiving any mail after 9/4/09 - on the other two
am receiving current mail. On the machine which is not receiving it hangs
at 49% sending and receiving. Is this to be expected? On the two machines
where it is working correctly it took a long time for the messages to be
received. Should I remove the account and set it up again, should I disable
the e-mail scanning, or just wait through several attempts to download
current mail?

Thanks for any help.

If you had Connector installed then there was no need to change
anything. Perhaps changing from http to MAPI has made the connection
unstable. Who told you to change to MAPI? If you don't use Connector
then the only way to use OL with Hotmail was by using pop3 servers but
this does not apply to you.

Have you tried Windows Live Mail
<http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=56883de5-2024-4631-806e-757693072a1c>?
It does not require anything else to install to access Hotmail. I
suggest explore the idea of using WLM because that is a new technology
to replace Outlook Express.

Outlook 2007 and connector installed after 9/1, previously was using OL
2002. When account entered it appeared as MAPI. Has worked on two of three
machines correctly. I still have the same question.
Thanks for your comments.

While WLM is a fine client, to doesn't meet the needs of everyone - some of
us need features available on in outlook.

Definitely disable email scanning - that can cause issues such as you are
seeing. If that doesn't help, how large is the mailbox? It will take some
time to sync initially but after that it should be fairly speedy.

My second step (after disabling email scanning) would be to remove and set
the account up again.

Thanks everyone - waiting 24 hours worked.

You're barking up the wrong tree here. There is no choice with the Outlook
Connector. The account will always be MAPI.

Cool. :) (That often works when it comes to Hotmail/MSN/live mail.)
