Outlook 2007 unable to access few POP3 servers: "invalid syntax"

On my OL2007 Beta2 installation, I have around 20 mail accounts periodically
checked.
One of them, tries to catch e-Mail from a POP3 server
(pop.fantasticasail.it), but the server replies with "Invalid Syntax" error,
and mails are not downloaded.
Everything works fine, with definitely same settings, on OL2003 and Outlook
Express.
Too, everything works fine with other server (such as pop.tiscali.it, same
provider but different address).
Antivirus is Nod32, but I also tried to switch it off, and it didn't work.

Is there a way to switch on a detailed log for OL/POP3 protocol dialog?

Or, much better, any solution?

I alsto tried to access the same mailbox using IMAP account, but OL2007 gets
stuck.

Does nod32 have email integration? If it does then disable it. Try removing
the account and adding it back - configure it manually and skip the
autoconfigure.

Do have any special char in the userid? (see 2007 Beta 2 - POP and SMTP Logon).

Yeah, the account has a (e-mail address removed) format.
But other accounts connecting to other POP3 servers, have the same format.

Does your reference "See 2007 Beta 2 - POP and SMTP logon" refer to another
thread on this forum or to any help document?
