Outlook 2007 - spell check - no red underline

Using Outlook 2007, no Word 2007 installed. Windows XP Pro/SP3

Problem: I cannot get the auto spell check to work. It does not underline
mispelled words, or bad grammer, when typing. Many options for Spell check
are grayed out in options. It does spell check when I send or hit F7.

We need that funcionality that has exsted since Outlook 2000.

That functionality only exists when you install an office suite, not outlook
alone.
