Outlook 2007 Sent Items - erratic misdirection

I

Occasionally (but not frequently), after a Send/Recieve, I can't find the
item in the Sent Items folder. Invariably, these are received items that I'm
forwarding or replying to (i.e. not new items); and when I search, I find the
sent item in the folder that the source email was in when I did the forward
or reply. Once this happens, I can replicate it - the same thing happens
every time I try to send this particular email. Even if I move it from the
source folder to Inbox, for example, and do a Resend from there, the copy of
the sent item appears back in the source folder, as if by magic! The only
way to stop this behaviour seems to be to delete the source folder (or move
it into a Personal Folder) - then Outlook behaves correctly. I've looked
through the various posts in this community folder, but not come across
exactly the same problem - but I have tried all the hints on checking options
etc. Not sure what else to try.....

Turn off the "In folders other than Inbox, save replies with the original
message" option.
