Outlook 2007 search feature no longer working

I recently am having issues with Outlook search not giving me any results
back when I search mail, contacts, etc. I am seeing a error in my event
viewer and I think it is the reason why, but don't know how to fix it. here
is the even below.

Log Name: Application
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Search
Date: 5/12/2008 7:57:51 AM
Event ID: 3036
Task Category: Gatherer
Level: Warning
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: IT-Micale.hh.hrm.lan
Description:
The content source <mapi://{s-1-5-21-189038056-1230993814-239210854-1668}/>
cannot be accessed.

Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog

Details:
Unspecified error
(0x80004005)

Things I have tried to fix this was running the PST repair tool on all my
PST and OST files.. It fixed the errors on the PST files, but not the
search problems. I created a new profile and still having the same search
issues. I tried rebuilding my index with no luck and also restoring the
default index options.

any other advise would be great at this point since I use this feature all
the time.

Thanks

Ok well I am not sure what has fixed my problem, but all of a sudden my
search appears to be working. Here are some of the things I have tried.

1. Rebuilding my index several times.
2. setting the index back to the defaults.
3. Running the fixmapi.exe in the %systemroot%\system32 or for 64bit
%systemroot%\sysWOW64
4. Removing PST from the search options. Tools->Instant Search Options.
Upchucking all locations. Close outlook and restarting it. Then go back to
the same place and check the ones you want again.
5. One thing I have noticed since this started working is that when I start
to type in something to search for I now have to hit the enter button for it
to start the search. Before I just could type a few letters and it would
then start to narrow things down.

So hopefully some of these steps will help others who have experienced the
same issues.

Ok I think I need to take everything back I just mentioned in my previous
post. After doing a little more testing the only way I can get results for
searching for content in emails is by going to Tools->Instant Search Options
and uncheck all data files except the main personal folder data file.
Everything else I have unchecked. Then you exit outlook and launch it
again. Then you can search your emails, but it is still not indexing
contacts. I would be curious if anyone who is having this issue in using a
Windows Smartphone.
