Outlook 2007 running with Windows XP (sp2)

Problem opening/closing outlook. Had one notice that a data file failed to
close properly. When shutting down computer it get the message that
outlook.exe failed to close - clicking "end now" doesn't work so I click
"cancel" to end now. I have restarted computer and tried to open outlook - I
am told it failed to open correctly last time and asked to if I want to start
it in the safe mode. When I click "yes" it still does not open.

Any suggestions and ideas what may be wrong would greatly be appreciated.

You might have damaged your data file (pst-file) this way. Scan it for
errors with scanpst.exe
