outlook 2007 recieve all the mails again

Hi everybody,

I am an it administrator and i have a problem with outlook 2007 which is
configured to use pop3 and leave a copy on the server, I have updated to the
latest office update
the problem is that outlook on some of the users machines is starting to
receive all the mails again from the mail server which is very annoying
because for some users the mails to be receive is over 5000 mail and this
happens randomly with being any change on the machine.
so i have no choices but either receive all the mails again which means 5000
duplicates or delete all the mails from the pop3 account
any help?

Often this is caused by having a virus scanner installed that integrates
with Outlook.

At this point there is nothing you can do really other than to receive the
items. You can of course create a (temporary) rule that will move all
incoming items to a different folder so you can easily delete all the
duplicates at once. A server level solution would be to move all those items
out of the Inbox folder and into a subfolder as POP3 only supports
downloading from the Inbox folder.
