Outlook 2007 on Vista

I have several new Vista laptops that came in with Office 2007. Users are
complaining that every time they open in this case Outlook, the installer
pops up and says "Please wait while windows configures microsoft outlook
2003". You can go through the install proccess but this happens every time
you open Outlook. What gives?

Good thought but 2003 isn't on there. It came with 2007 and I have the disk.
I took everything office related off and reinstalled 2007 and I get the same
thing. So obviously 2007 is installing something pertaining to 2003. Sure I
can uninstall 2007 and the problem goes away but that's not an option.

There is no such thing installed by Outlook/Office 2007 that would refer to
Outlook 2003. Could there be an addin installed that could such a weird
thing to occur? You can run offcln.exe from the Office CD or even the
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to find out what is going on.

It could also happen when users are originally coming from an Office 2003
installation, have roaming profiles and you did not recreate their Windows
profiles (all sorts of crazy things can happen during this migration).
Additionally check your software deployment configuration and verify that
you haven't assigned Outlook 2003 deployment to their accounts.

I respectfuly disagree with you because I have uninstalled everything and the
problem goes away until I install Office 2007. The 2007 DVD is putting
something on that is 2003. Thanks for your input I'll do a support ticket.

I have uninstalled everything and the problem goes away until I installWhen you uninstall Office 2007 there is no way for you to launch Outlook to
check if your issue indeed goes away so that logic won't hold ;-)

Do you get the same behavior when you launch Outlook in Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

I'm having an almost iddentical problem and most I have asked also look at
/treat me like I must have done something wrong. I get this msg when using
OWA (OL Web Access) as well as when trying to use Google Maps. if I
uninstall Office 2007 the problem goes away with both Google & OWA. As soon
as I reinstall Office 2007 the problem returns. It's quite annoying. I
started with a clean system, one I reformatted and setup myself. I've done
this many times in the past with prior versions of Office/OL and only 20007
produces this.

John, Have you tried launching OWA or use Google Maps on these systems with
OL 2007 installed and if so do you get the same type of msg?

Very odd, because OWA is unrelated to Outlook, OWA being nothing but an HTML
interface to your Exchange mailbox, controlled completely by the Exchange
server and not interacting with Outlook at all. You might want to ask in
microsoft.public.exchange.clients
