Outlook 2007 not downloading emails

I have been using Outlook 2007 for about 2 months now. For the last 3 days I
have been having tremendous problems with it. It will sometimes only
download emails from one hotmail account. It is not sending emails very well
either. Sometimes it will send from one account, but not any of the others
and at other times it will not send at all. I am contemplating reinstalling
Outlook. However if I do will I lose all the emails and contacts I have
previously saved? What other options do I have for getting outlook to start
working properly?

Do you recieve any error messages?

There are no error messages. It does say at the bottom Send/Receive 12%, but
it will not go past that. Today it says Send/Receive 50%. Maybe tomorrow it
will be 100%?

If you bring up the progress dialog, does it show anything odd?

Nothing odd happens with the dialogue box. It shows that things are either
sending and receiving in Progress or even completed.

It seems to be ok with downloading the hotmail account, but not the ms
office live or the yahoo or the other account. It is also extremely slow
when reading emails. Some items are being downloaded, but nothing is being
sent.
