Outlook 2007 Instant Search Doesn't Work

J

Judge Fudge

No matter what I try, no results are returned. I followed a microsoft
help document about re-building the indexes but still nothing. I'm
using the very latest Windows Desktop 3.0 Search engine release, and
Office 2007 Pro Plus.

Any ideas?

This is Office 2007 RTM/Final?
Have you left Outlook open over night already?

I just posted this:

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...f6d30df747e/ca7080cef90939ec#ca7080cef90939ec

I hope this helps you.

I'm have the same issue as well. Here is my configuration.

Outlook 2007 Ent.
Windows XP SP2

In some instances I thought that it was my profile. It seems to work when I
removed certain add-ins and then restarted Outlook, but after a few minutes
it would go back to showing nothing.

So far I have deleted my ost file, recreated my profile and removed all
third party add-ins. I also turned off cache mode thinking that may have
something to do with it as well. I've also resintalled Windows DesktopSearchabout 5 times now and reindexed.

I'm really missing my Lookout 2.0 at this point. Anyone have any ideas?

One thing to try: searching for Outlook items works well from the
desktop instantsearch(or the Tools>InstantSearch>SearchDesktop menu
item in Outlook). Searching from the "SearchAll Outlook Items" bar at
the top of the email list doesn't work. This suggests a problem within
Outlook, versus the indexing service or its index.
Does the desktop instantsearchwork for you, i.e. does it find Outlook
items?

I relocated the index file through the control panel applet and it
works now.
When I examined the folders with the indexing files in them yesterday
I
noticed something weird. A file called schema.txt, in the
search|data|config
folder had lines for contacts - column name=System.Contact. etc- and
so
forth, and many entries for for document, media, photo....no entries
for
anything that appeared to be email messages. This morning, this file,
in the
new location, newly generated I suppose, has several system.message
lines.

I fixed mine by doing two things, not scientific, doing only one may have worked.

I unchecked Outlook Express. (Maybe it only likes one email client) (It search OE fine by the way)
I ran the repair option for Office 2007 in add remove programs. (I installed search after Outlook prompted me on its first use,
maybe Search should be installed first)
