Outlook 2007 - encountered a problem and needs to close

Brad

I am running Outlook 2007. When I select "send/receive" the application sends
( 66% complete ) but stops with an error "Microsoft Office Outlook has
encountered a problem and needs to close"
The event log has an error which reads "Faulting application outlook.exe,
version 12.0.6316.5000, stamp 4833a470, faulting module entapi.dll, version
8.0.0.240, stamp 41075290, debug? 0, fault address 0x0000368a."
I am running XP Professional with McAfee AV on a Dell GX260 with all the
latest updates

Can you help please
Brad

If you open Outlook in safe mode, do you get the same error performing a
send/receive? If you disable any add-ins one by one in safe mode and then
reopen in regular mode, do you find teh one that is at fault?

Thank you for your reply
I started Outlook in safe mode ( run: Outlook /safe ) and found an iTunes
add-in. I un-installed iTunes and Outlook worked.
Thank you for your time

Sorry but the problem has reoccurred !
I have removed iTunes and was able to run Outlook twice. However I am
getting the same error "Faulting application outlook.exe, version
12.0.6316.5000, stamp 4833a470, faulting module entapi.dll, version
8.0.0.240, stamp 41075290, debug? 0, fault address 0x0000368a." when I run
send / receive.
I can open Outlook in safe mode but if I try to access the Trust Center to
look at the add ins I get the same error
Can you help
regards
Brad

Entapi.dll is a McAfee file. Did you uninstall a McAfee antivirus program?

Hello Brian,
No I did not uninstall a McAfee antivirus. I thought it was essential to
have an AV running at all times. What would you suggest ?

Yes you should have an AV program running, but no, you should not install
the mail scanning feature. Do you see any reference to McAfee in Outlook's
add-ins?
