Outlook 2007 - editor - autoformat

I have installed Outlook 2007, but not Word 2007 (yet). I cannot find a way
to have Outlook correct my spelling and format my typing (capital letters,
etc) while I type as it did in Outlook 2002. Any suggestions? I look at the
Options for Email/Editor/Proofing but the bottom section is grayed out and
the AutoCorrect tabs are also grayed out - except for the "replace" list of
smileys, etc - that also doesn't format in the email, by the way.

That's one of the editor features that you need full Word 2007 for, IIRC.
