Outlook 2007 doesn't start (and hasn't started ever)

I have a new pc with Vista Business 64bit and Office pro 2007 oem
pre-installed.

When I start Outlook it opens for a fraction of a second and closes again
without any error message. I was able to take a screenshot, and there you see
another popup message "Configure Outlook accounts"

I also tried to make a profile through the windows configuration. After
entering a profilename, I get an outlook popup with something like "operation
failed".

Although I can't save a profile this way, I sometimes get an other screen
when I start Outlook after that. This time I have to chose a profile and I
see the profilename for which i got an error before. (See next screenshot). I
can't create a new profile and when I chose the one that exists and press OK
the program closes and will not start again.

I tried Safe mode for windows and for outlook.
I uninstalled Outlook, restarted and installed it again.
I did the same with complete Office.
Situation stays the same.

Other office programs work ok.

Any ideas what to try next ?

Which mail account type are you trying to configure?

Has Office 2007 Service Pack 2 been installed already?

Did it came pre-installed with Business Contact Manager?
If you are not planning to use this, uninstall it and try again.

Service Pack 2 was not installed. After the update everything worked.

Thanks for your help.
