outlook 2007 contacts switches first name for last name

When I add a new contact in Outlook 2007, no matter what I do Outlook changes
the first name for the last name. If I type in John Smith for the Full Name,
Outlook immediately makes it First Name, " Smith" and Last Name, "John". I
ran Office diagnostics but nothing showed up in error.

If I click on Full Name, and switch the names, Outlook displays the Full
Name as Smith John.

Any ideas. Thanks

From other posts that I read after I posted this I found that it was
corrected by the contacts option, Default "Full Name" order being changed.
